The School of Economics at the University of East Anglia, UK, is pleased to announce its fifth annual conference “Contests: Theory and Evidence” to be held on Thursday 27 June and Friday 28 June 2019, in Norwich, UK. This year the conference will celebrate the 70th birth anniversary year of Prof Luis Corchon (Universidad Carlos III de Madrid). In the previous four occasions, this conference has brought together leading researchers from over 75 different institutions around the globe. This year we intend to build on this success, providing again a world leading event in this field.
  • We invite theoretical, experimental, and empirical work on any aspect of contests: including but not limited to economics, psychology, management, sports, biology, computer science. We especially encourage submissions that relate to (i) the contributions made by Prof Luis Corchon, and (ii) application of contest theory in the area of environmental research.

  • Please submit your paper, or an extended abstract (2 pages) along with a short abstract within 50 words to Thomas Cushan (t.cushan@uea.ac.uk) by 15/04/2019.

    The Keynote speaker for this event is Prof Carmen Bevia (University of Alicante).

    Other confirmed participants include: Prof Luis Corchon (Universidad Carlos III de Madrid), Prof Christian Ewerhart (University of Zurich), Prof Kai Konrad (MPI Munich), Prof Dan Kovenock (Chapman University), Prof Aner Sela (Ben Gurion University), Prof Karl Warneryd (Stockholm School of Economics).

    Key dates:

    Submission deadline: 15 April 2019.
    Acceptance decision: 30 April 2019.
    Registration deadline: 15 May 2019.
    Conference: 27-28 June 2019.

    Travel / Accommodation / Registration fee:

    Unfortunately, we cannot cover travel or accommodations, but will be happy to provide advice regarding these.

    There will be a nominal registration fee of GBP 50 that will be charged online along with the registration. This fee will partially cover the conference materials, lunches, refreshments, and two dinners.  We are able to waive the registration fee for a limited number of students from developing countries; please contact t.cushan@uea.ac.uk with enquiries on this.
