Maastricht University - Department of Economics, The Netherlands

The Maastricht CTN research group consists of members of the Department of Microeconomics and Public Economics (MPE) and of the Department of Quantitative Economics (KE). Apart from a specific interest in coalition and network theory, the researchers of the Maastricht CTN branch are very active in closely related research topics such as game theory, behavioural and experimental economics, general equilibrium theory, mathematical economics, operations research, market design, and social choice theory.

Besides the research within the economics departments, the School of Business and Economics kicked off the interdisciplinary research theme “Conflict and Cooperation” in 2017. The team (with team leader Iwan Bos) uses methods ranging from multilevel analysis and growth modelling to field experiments and game theory, and subjects are studied not only in static contexts but dynamic ones, for example analyzing how people learn to cooperate in organizations and how conflicts evolve over time. Members are drawn from across the faculty, including the departments of economics, quantitative economics, and organisation and strategy, along with UNU-Merit academics. The faculty’s strengths in both fundamental and applied game theory are also key to the team’s work, with significant potential for exploring game-theoretical applications in business research.
