International Journal of Engineering Business Management: Special Collection on Social and Collaborative Networks and their Applications
This Special Collection is devoted to publishing the latest significant research results on Social and Collaborative Networks design, analysis and management. During the last two decades, there has been a remarkable increase in research attention to networks which fostered the domains of applications and gathered research in the exchanging of knowledge on methods and models. Moreover, the increased availability of large databases and big data analysis opportunities have enabled the description of emergent phenomena as well as communities and collaborative patterns between networks’ members.
Networks can be considered a valuable representation of many real systems and play an important role in their understanding. They have a flexible definition - set of nodes and links, representing agents and the interactions among them, respectively - which favors the association between theories in different research fields, ranging from social and managerial to technological and infrastructural aspects as well as to communication systems.
Networks ubiquity has led to a set of common and relevant research problems on how structures facilitate or limit their dynamical behaviors. Thus, the analysis of networks’ architecture is extremely useful in order to acquire insight regarding the systems they represent.
This Special Collection encourages research that uses empirical and case study approaches to present theories, techniques and practical experiences in networks that may be used in applications of network methodologies. Articles that have a direct connection to real world problems and lead to more extensive use of network science concepts are preferentially welcome.
